DIY: Two Button Statement Earrings

IT’S STATEMENT EARRING TIME!!!! No seriously… it’s time! The holiday’s are around the corner and it’s time to start updating our jewelry collections with a few gorgeous sparklers for the season. Using the same technique as my DIY button ring tutorial, here’s an easy breezy project to help you bring a little bling to those earrings!

Materials: 4 Buttons, 4 Earring Findings With Post and Hoop, Jump Rings, Earring Backings

Buttons are the key to this project. When you are shopping for buttons start by looking for the same button that come in two different sizes. Or you can search for buttons that are different but compliment each other. It’s just important that to keep the earring looking balanced the button on top is small and the button on the bottom is larger.

PS: They don’t have to just be crystal earrings. They can be gold or silver metal or whatever floats your boat. I actually found some lucite buttons I’ll be transforming into a pair sometime soon!

Let’s start with the smaller button. Use a pair of nippers to remove the shanks off of the back of your button.

Use your strong hold glue to apply the finding to the back of the small earring.

Now on to the bigger button… Use your nippers to remove the back shank.

Use your strong hold glue to apply the finding to the back of the small earring.

Once everything has had time to dry, grab a pair of plyers and use the a jump ring to attach the two buttons. Feel free to use the nippers and cut off the post that’s still on the big button. No need to poke yourself in the head!
